Today i'm gonna talk about our heart health and I'll be doing it in a Q&A format.
How susceptible are we Indians to heart attack??
Very susceptible I would say.In India,over 60% of people are susceptible to heart diseases.
How do we know whether we are in 'the category'??
Simplest thing a person can do is,go for a blood test. When you go for a blood test,ask for a lipid profile.Lipid means liquid fat.
You can also do a vitamin B test.I would go for these tests and check whether i am in bad levels.If I'm in bad levels, then i would go ahead and take preventive steps.
Preventive measures??
High risk is when your triglycerides are high ie, the bad cholesterol LDL is high and good cholesterol ie HDL is low.
You need to meet your doctor/nutritionist and be planning your diet. Recent studies have shown that Mediterranean diet is the best in the world.It includes a lot of fruits and vegetables and olive oil.This food is basically grilled,rather than fried, to give your body and blood a little rest.
